Product Troubleshooting

Possible Troubleshooting

Please follow these instructions to install your new cartridge

  • Open the top cover.
  • Select "Replace Ink Tank" on the front panel.
  • When the ink tank is in position, open the hold down latch and remove the old cartridge.
  • Remove the foil seal on the bottom of the new cartridge.
  • Install the new cartridge and close the hold down latch.
  • Close the cover of the meter to complete the installation.

If the machine displays a message stating "Some Non PBI Ink cartridges may damage meter", press OK or Continue to proceed past this message.

It is important to note that most remanufactured postal cartridges are 100% guaranteed. Most manufacturers warrant against any damage to your printer.

If you have installed a new postal meter and the machine displays a message stating "Some Non PBI Ink cartridges may damage meter", press OK or Continue to proceed past this message.

If your postage machine is producing poor impressions, you may need to run a cleaning cycle or purge.

Please keep in mind that this process may vary by machine and that you may consult your machine’s user manual for instructions on performing a cleaning cycle.

  • To begin press the Menu button.
  • Select Maintenance.
  • Select Printer Maintenance.
  • Select Clean Printer Nozzle.
  • You will see a choice of four purges. Selecting Purge C is usually enough to purge the system.

The system will begin a purge which may take a few moments. When the purge is finished, the screen will display Cleaning Complete.

Select Print Test Pattern to print a test pattern.

  • Follow the prompts to print the test pattern on an envelope or tape strip.
  • When the test pattern has been printed, the system will display prompts asking if the test pattern is OK. A poor test print will contain missing lines whereas a good test print will not.

  • If yes, select Yes and the Home screen returns
  • If no, select No, Clean Nozzle and the system will execute a purge. This may take a few moments. When finished, the screen displays: Cleaning Complete.
  • Select Done to return to the Printer Maintenance menu

If the print on your test page is satisfactory, you may return to the document you wish to print and resume printing. Or you may also perform another cleaning cycle if you are not satisfied with your test page. Please be aware that cleaning your printhead does consume ink; and therefore, should only be completed when necessary.

  • Select Another Purge to choose a different purge
  • Select Done to return to the Printer Maintenance menu

If the print quality still hasn’t improved, you may need to replace the machine’s printhead.
